The meridian of feeling completeness, wholeness, divine perfection, divine will, union and “truth”.
Negative emotions – feeling unwilful, feeling incomplete or untrue within oneself , feeling separate from god or feeling that you have not done enough or are not enough for someone or have not completed something fully – this leads to e.g. taking on more work , more seva or service , commitment or more responsibilities than you can handle or even the constant need to know things or even to eat more than necessary.
This meridian has a very important connection with the throat. The throat centre is governed by sound, it is where we speak what we feel is true. it is the voice of our feelings and intentions. When we feel we are “acting like someone else” then we are not in tune with our true self . When we do not understand others , disapprove of them or judge them in some way then our throat centre becomes blocked – because we have denied their truth and do not ALLOW them to be as they are. When we speak “ego” – feelings become blocked and our throat or triple warmer meridian again becomes blocked.
The throat is where we swallow – at the physical level it is food, at the psychological it is the thoughts that we will into manifestation. This is where we have a choice i.e. which thoughts hence belief systems do i allow my life to be governed by? Which thoughts are toxic to my body system? and which thoughts are beneficial? Which thoughts come from the divine guidance? Whatever thoughts (conscious and unconscious) do i choose about myself and of others to create my karma. So the choice is yours ! What kind of karma and hence life do I wish to lead?
Why do i keep reincarnating into the same thoughts again and again?
We can transmute what we don’t need through the power of speech – by way of affirmations or gurbani. We also need to believe that we are truly whole and complete with the divine especially when we have a “thought invasion”. This can cause us to feel fearful and confused – and can cause our mind to wonder off and make unempowering decisions. The throat centre is where we surrender our will to the divine will. This is where we basically stop fighting and give up the struggle either physically mentally and say to god “I surrender to you, please take my pain away” or “man maerae gur kee mann lai rajaae“, Man than seethal sabh thheeai naam vasai man aae” which translates as “ O my mind, surrender to the guru’s will. Mind and body are totally cooled and soothed and the Naam comes to dwell in the mind”
Air enters the mouth, goes over the throat and eventually to the lungs. The throat is where the first signs of infection occurs when we have a cold of flu and it has the job to fights of these toxins. When we take on too much responsibility the body cannot cope with the stress, we shoulder too much and we lose our will , illness takes over and we have to drop everything and rest and let go of anything burdening us, whether its people, emotions or belief systems.
Similarly a balanced triple warmer meridian has a similar task of burning away thoughts which make us feel “heavy” and unwilling to move forward in life – and are not in alignment with our soul . (The triple warmer meridian is a fire meridian and is the body’s thermostat)
The affirmation “I allow you to be as you are” helps us to detach from other people and bring our Will (triple warmer/thyroid meridian) into balance. Very often we exercise our will over other people and wish to be in charge of other peoples lives and pressure them to be or do things the way we want them. We may wish to “fix” people, change them or judge them. For parents this may be necessary at first when bringing up children as safety is important as well as rules and boundaries. However a day will come when parents must allow their children to grow and ALLOW them to be. The power of allowing opens up a space for real change and transformation to occur. When the pushing and pulling and “battle of the Wills” ceases and is replaced by acceptance, love. acknowledgment and allowing then the triple warmer/thyroid meridian starts to heal and balance.
The following affirmations and extracts also help us to balance the triple warmer thyroid meridian.
Note there are no rules , you may also use whatever shabad or extract that you are comfortable with.
I am true, whole, complete and wilful (within the divine).
I approve of myself and others on their soul journey.
I am perfect as I am (within the divine).
I am true as I am (within the divine)
I surrender to the divine will or “thy will be done”
I let go of what others will me to do and follow the divine will.
The affirmations balance the Thyroid/triple warmer meridian and should be expressed with humbleness. If there is a difficulty or resistance in expressing them then it is a good idea to look into the reasons why or you may try writing the reasons in a journal or diary.
Start your sentences e.g. by writing – I feel heavy because……..
I feel separated from the divine because…….
I cannot surrender because i think or feel that…
I am unwilling to talk , express or write about my feelings because….
I need to be perfect all the time because…..( in reality ,you are perfect as you are)
I cannot use the divine will …I use the ego will or others peoples will because…. (eg i am not strong enough, I have low self esteem, I dont wish to be different, I wish to please others etc)
By expressing and releasing your feeling and mindset in this way you may find it is easier to say the affirmation afterwards. The affirmations help you to get in touch with your feelings and help clear your body and mind of psychological clutter hence improve your health. There may eventually come a time when you do not need to say the full affirmation because the qualities you need will be integrated inside you . you may then simply say “I am” or “Waheguru” without any word attached to it because you simply are – a state of being and the full and complete essence of the divine.
